Welcome to the Professorship for Particle and Fiber Technology!
The Professorship of Particle and Fiber Technology for Bio-Based Materials was founded in September 2024 under Prof. Dr. Wenwen Fang.
Our group focuses on the development of green, sustainable processes to convert biopolymers (e.g. cellulose and proteins) extracted from renewable feedstocks into high performance fibers and functional materials.
By controlling molecular interactions through chemical and physical techniques, such as surface modifications, mechanical alignment and laser irradiation, we aim to tailor the structural and mechanical properties of bio-based materials, pushing the boundaries of what can be achieved with biopolymers.
Our research interests also include:
- Novel Fiber Spinning Technology
- Smart Fibers
- Textile Recycling
- Bio-Based Composites
- Rheology of Bio-Based Polymers and Colloids
